Steven Truong

Mr. Steven Truong is a prominent leader in the software and artificial intelligence (AI) industry, with over 26 years of extensive experience and a series of impressive achievements. He currently holds the position of Vice President of System Software at NVIDIA, following NVIDIA‘s acquisition of VinBrain, a subsidiary of Vingroup, Vietnam’s largest conglomerate, in December 2024. Prior to this, he was the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of VinBrain, a company established with the mission to apply AI and the Internet of Things (IoT) to improve quality of life and productivity.

Under Mr. Truong’s leadership, VinBrain achieved significant milestones, affirming its pioneering position in the field of medical technology. The company developed and deployed DrAid™, Vietnam’s first AI-powered doctor assistant, which is currently used in over 100 hospitals across Vietnam and the United States. DrAid™ Radiology V1, the first and only AI product for X-ray diagnostics in Vietnam and Southeast Asia, has received FDA standard clearance, a testament to the product’s quality and reliability. Notably, during the COVID-19 pandemic, VinBrain played a crucial role in supporting thousands of Vietnamese patients through AIviCare, the company’s second flagship product, a telehealth solution that provided critical access to healthcare. These achievements earned VinBrain the prestigious ACM SIGAI Industry Award in 2021, a remarkable feat considering that previously, only Microsoft had received this award in 2020.

Before founding VinBrain, Mr. Truong accumulated valuable experience at leading technology companies in the United States and Canada. He served as Director of AI Incubation and Engineering at Microsoft USA, reporting directly to the VP of MSAI, where he led multi-development center teams and played a pivotal role in initiating AI product platforms used by hundreds of millions of users worldwide, including widely used features like Email Smart Reply and iRanker. He also held senior leadership positions at Microsoft, Honeywell, and IntelliCommunities.

Mr. Truong earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering Science, Electrical & Software from the University of Toronto in 1989. He furthered his education with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Phoenix, a program sponsored by Honeywell USA Inc. as part of their High Potential (HiPo) development initiative. The combination of his solid academic background and extensive professional experience has equipped him with the vision and capabilities to drive innovation and lead teams to success.
